Trace — Terms of Service

Effective date: 14 October 2026

These terms apply to Trace, a handwriting practice app maintained by Phuong. Using Trace means you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app.

Using Trace

Trace provides word tracing, starter word lists, custom words and pictures, and optional saving to your own Google Drive. It is a practice tool and does not provide a formal assessment or guarantee learning outcomes. A parent, guardian, or teacher should supervise use by children and manage connected accounts where appropriate.

Your account and Drive

Google sign-in is optional. If you connect Drive, authorize only an account you own or are permitted to use. You are responsible for access to that account and for its storage limits. Google’s terms and account rules also apply. Each user’s personal word boxes are saved in their own connected Drive.

Your content

You retain your rights to words and pictures you add. You authorize Trace to process, display, and store that content as necessary to provide the features you choose. Upload only content you are allowed to use. Do not use Trace to store unlawful material, violate another person’s privacy or rights, or interfere with the app or its service providers.

Saving and data management

Changes are kept on the current device until you save to Drive. Device drafts, saved Drive files, and the published starter words are separate. Loading a Drive word box can replace unsaved device changes. Keep independent copies of important content; Trace is not a guaranteed backup service.

Signing out does not delete saved files or browser copies. Removing a word does not automatically delete previously uploaded pictures. You can delete the Trace folder through Google Drive, revoke Google access through your Google account, and clear device copies through browser settings. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Availability and changes

Trace may change, become temporarily unavailable, or be discontinued. Google, Cloudflare, and GitHub availability or policy changes can affect the app. No uninterrupted operation or error-free storage is promised. Any future charges for Trace will be disclosed before you are asked to agree to them.

Responsibility

Trace is provided as available, without additional warranties to the extent permitted by applicable law. The maintainer is not responsible for loss caused by unavailable third-party services, account restrictions, or your failure to keep copies, except where applicable law provides otherwise. These terms do not exclude rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains Google permissions, data handling, device copies, and removal options.

Contact and updates

For questions, contact the maintainer through Phuong’s GitHub profile or the Trace repository. Do not include private content or credentials in public discussions. Updates to these terms will be published here with a revised effective date.
